All last week Bob Hope’s agents and handlers have been rolling out the red carpet for the famous star. It was finally revealed that he wanted to visit Cedric, and not the egocentrical Lum. As we look in on the little community today, we find Abner helping Cedric get ready for the visit. Cedric has sent Bob some jokes, but why did all the press agents come to the Jot ‘Em Down store instead of Cedric’s house? Lum enters with Bob Hope to meet the star struck Cedric.
Bob is so impressed with Cedrics jokes that he wants to hire him as a writer. Lum claims to be Cedrics manager, and wants to take care of any contracts. Put on the spot, Cedric can’t tell any jokes, but he has a few written down.
As Bob does the rapid fire delivery, Lum and Abner don’t get the jokes. They laugh at the parts that aren’t the punch lines. The contract comes out, and is impressive in the demands, and the payoffs.
Cedric admits that he didn’t exactly invent the jokes. What is his secret? Who is the real joke writer here?
