Lum’s big plans seem to be falling through when his steam shovel hasn’t arrived yet. The pressure is on when Abner enters to announce their visitor has arrived, and when he pops into the Jot ‘Em Down store we learn that Kaye Kyser is the big shot. Lum still thinks he’s the big time shipyard builder, and confusion ensues.
All Kaye really wants is a potted plant, not a factory. I bet you never saw that one coming, did you? (says the podcaster with tongue firmly in cheek).
Lum’s preparations overwhelm Kay Kyser, and rightly so, but will Lum get around to figuring it all out? All of Lums plans to acquire land, and other preparations keep falling through, making him frustrated. I’m sure that once he discovers the truth behind the identity of the bandleader, he’ll be a lot more grateful.
Kaye is only after collecting flowers that grow in the local area. It takes him using a few of his radio catch phrases to give Lum and Abner a wake up call. At least the gathered crowd at the bandstand won’t be disappointed when Kaye’s band cuts loose to entertain them. Though we don’t hear the concert, we learn that Lum’s luck has turned around for him.
