In the house halfway up the next block, Vic plays solitaire as Sade talks animatedly on the telephone. Attentions soon turn to Rush, who is to go on a date tonight.
Sade tells secrets about a few neighborhood folks, and their romantic, tender sides. Vic shares a tidbit of his own sentiment as well. Rush is feeling pressured over the need to measure up to the love stuff, and balks at the idea of the date as he thinks of his friends making fun of him.
Human nature is what it is, but why did Rush ask the girl on a date if he knew that? It turns out that Annabelle asked him. It must be one of those leap year customs of days gone by.
Can matters get worse for poor old, nonromantic Rush? You know it will. Rushes life just won’t be worth living.
