Special guest is Jane Wyman.
Gracie and George talk about the Academy Awards, and Gracie imagines how George would be in a cowboy part. Maybe George as a dramatic, romantic actor? George asks what Gracie thinks about the line up for the female parts. Conversation turns to other roles, but gets to Jane Wyman, and compares her age to Gracies.
Gracie goes to Janes house for a chat. The two gals talk about the difficulty of various movie parts, and men, namely talking about George. The Academy
Awards are to be tonight and Gracie tries to assure Jane that she’ll win, by offering some good luck omens, and help her relax. .
After time goes by, George stops over to see what’s keeping Gracie, and thinks that Gracie has made Jane a nervous wreck.
Jane wants to settle down, and needs rest. Though she would prefer a little medicine, Gracie wants George to hypnotize her, so he gives it his best try. To make matters worse, a neighbor drops off a baby for George to watch. Gracie mistakes the baby for janes’, and when Bill Goodwin visits Gracie thinks that Jane needs a talk about the birds and bees.
After the jokes transition into a commercial, the baby jokes continue. Later, Frank Nelson drops in to see Jane Wyman, but Gracie won’t let him in. I don’t think he gets the chance to say, but Frank is an official sent from the Academy Awards with news.
Back at the Burns home, it’s almost time for the award show, and Gracie just remembered that she forgot to awaken Jane. Jane is frantic as she gets dressed, made up, and rushes out. Good thing she has a friend like Gracie to help her relax.
