Since Jack is late to the broadcast, his old friend George Jessel takes over the microphone, but he’s worried that Jack may try to take advantage of their friendship. Don tells why Jack and Rochester are late. We join the two where they are stranded in Albuquerque. To pass time, they find a radio to tune in the show. What secrets are Don and Mary keeping from Jack? The jokes about Jack’s stinginess stop as Phil Harris and his band play, Swing Annie Laurie. .
Jack arrives and doesn’t believe the warm welcome the cast try to give him. George is still worried over being paid. Will Jack shortchange his friend? Kenny Baker has arrived to join the fun, but when its his turn to sing, his song gets cut.
Telling about the thrills of his trip to New York, Jack grills Phil to find he has lied about tuning in the show. Andy Devine enters with Schlepperman. How are things going in getting Schlepperman set up on his new farm? Getting ready to call it a day and go home, Rochester phones in with a few domestic problems that cropped up while Jack was away.
Note: Jack claims to have gotten the gang presents, but when he hears what is said about him, he moans that he can’t take them back, and he can’t wear Mary’s. At least Rochester suggests he could at least fold it over to use as a silk handkerchief. Hmm… Wonder what it could have been?
PS: This show is clearly dated wrong. Likely it’s from 38-02-06, since Kenny left the show that year at the end of the season.
