Jack Benny – More Buck Benny. ep239, 370103

Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone and Don Wilson posing for a photo in 1938.

Wanting a good start to a new year, Jack asks Don for a nice intro, and almost gets one. Amid well wishes at the door, the cast talk about the parties they went to to celebrate the new year. Mary sheds light on Jack’s date being stolen away by Phil. Mary types out a hasty poem in honor of the holiday, while Don presents a commercial. Phil plays, Under the Spell of the Voodoo Drums.

With her poem finished, Mary shares her rhymes, O You 1937. Kenny shows up with his giggling girlfriend, Lena. How did Kenny’s partying go? Such a caveman he is. Kenny Baker sings, Sweetheart Waltz.

After the Buck Benny feature is introduced, Phil Harris plays, Laura Lai.

The search for Cactus Face Elmer takes place in a hospital, Cactus Center Hospital and General Store. Buck groans from his hospital bed, with his trusty horse right beside him. Will news about the evasive rustler help revive Buck? Here comes pappy now, with more jokes on medical care, drinking, and more. The doctor enters, but is there something familiar about him?? Will Buck get Cactus Face? Tune in again next week!

Note: There’s a little reaction in the show about a comment Fred Allen made in his show last week. A humble beginning, but stand by. A full blown feud blows up by next episode.
