Under smooth sailing, and right where they need to be in the Sulu Sea, Jack Armstrong and his friends get ready to launch the autogyro. With the flying machine in the water and fuel tank filled, uncle Jim reminds Betty of the importance of their adventure in finding the sunken uranium.
There’s no sign of their rival, the Black Shark, or the pirates who sail her.
The cockpit of the autogyro is hot, but uncle Jim assures Jack it will cool off once they take to the air. Uncle Jim goes over the controls with Jack and tells him what to look for in the water below them.
It should be a cinch to see the shipwreck in the waters over the reef. Jack spots a dark area under the water, and while he’s at it he scans the horizon for signs of the Black Shark. There’s no sign of the pirates, but uncle Jim knows they won’t be far behind.
