After clearing the harbor at the Naval base on Pangopango, the Scarlet Queen enters the monotony of the doldrums. Excitement comes when a stowaway is discovered aboard. Back to Pangopango they go.

The man is a prisoner who is to be returned to the Naval base, or at least that’s the plan. Who is George Craven, and what’s his story? When he escapes, Philip takes it upon himself to get the man back as he checks out the local dives and bars. George has threatened to kill some old acquaintences, and Philip goes to warn them.

Why not just go to the Navy for protection? The female bar owner, Hattie McCormick, and her niece aren’t exactly on the VIP list with the Navy. Philip Carney offers voiceover as he and his men stand guard and tensions run high. Through the teling, we learn the reason for the revenge. The younger McCormick was the lover who jilted George before he was sent to the Navy Brig that he escaped from.

Will there be a vengeful murder? Can the maniac George be stopped? Fights, scuffles, more dead bodies, and a thump on the head all await Philip before this mystery and adenture is concluded.

Note: Has anyone else noticed that for an adventure series about a ship at sea, the adventures really only take place whle the ship is in shore? I’ll bet there could be plenty of stories about the adventure, drama, and tension between crew members as they sail around.
