Like kids anywhere, the harris girls have been anticipating Christmas for weeks. Alice gives the girls a pep talk of how good they’ve been lately. Can they hold out for just a few more days? The girls want to stay up and see Santa when he comes.
Phil makes a promise that they will, even if he has to dress up himself. I think his kids may be too smart for that though. Who could he get to play Santa for him? How about getting Don Wilson to help. As Alice goes to call, Phil sings, Jingle Bells.
Frankie pops n with a few gifts, and he questions the idea of getting Don. Just wait for the real Santa to appear. Alice reports that Don is busy, but he’ll send over an actor friend who promises to do it for just $10.
The big day draws near and Phil gets nervous. Alice sings, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Frankie returns with milk and cookies. The doorbell rings, and sure enough, it’s Santa Benny. Frankie isn’t impressed with the fake Santa. Can Jack pass him off with the kids? To try him out first, Phil gives Santa Benny a trial run with Julius.
The girls meet Santa, and are gracious while he visits. Once Jack leaves though, they let on that they know what really happened.
As they wait for the real Santa, Phil begins to tell a Christmas story. As midnight draws near, Frankie and the girls have a special chat with Santa, but Phil doesn’t see anything.
A nice story with both funny, and touching moments.
