In a shabby rooming house, a well dressed man visits to make an important appointment. The landlady lets him in just in time to find a body, and a fire caused when the man electrocuted himself. The story, and suspicions, are brought to Mr Keen.

The dead man was an inventor, and sort of a modern day alchemist. For those who might not know, among other things, an alchemist is a person who studies ways to turn lead into gold. The man who found him was a benefactor, and investor in his inventions. A mysterious discovery was found, and is believed to be the motive for someone murdering the man.

Mr Keen is on the job, investigating to learn what was invented, and who might have done the deed. After interviewing folks, and tracking down clues, he is led to a house in the suburbs. Who is this young lady that Mr Keen finds? Why was she visiting the dead man in secret? Is she guilty of the murder? Is it someone else?

When the pressure is put on, a prime suspect emerges, but there’s a twist ending when Mr Keen see’s through the mystery, and finds the real killer. Listen in for all the clues, and see if you have it figured out as well.
