Don rolls the clock back to the day before, and we join Rochester and Jack at the breakfast table. Its National Save a Wife week, but what does that have to do with Rochester and Jack? The cast arrive to watch the world series on TV. Mary tells about a secret, whispering party the Coleman’s had. I wonder why they didn’t invite Jack to it? Bob Crosby can’t make the game, but phones in with jokes about the band and his brother Bing staying over at his house. Leo Durocher, manager of the New York Giants, pops in to watch the game with his pal Jack. The 4 Umpires, otherwise known as the Sportsmen, sing their sponsor message to a tune called, Nobody Loves an Umpire.
The TV goes on the fritz, so Jack has to try to find the game on the radio. All he gets is quirky commercials and bad singing acts. Finally he tunes the game, featuring announcer Frank Nelson for the play by play action. The TV starts working, and amazingly, Frank Nelson is also the commentator there too. When a controversial play is called, Leo gets into an argument with the TV set and is… thrown out of the game?
