Mrs Anderson wants to go to the opera for a night of culture. Mr Anderson is less inclined to go, and seeks a way out. Dennis tries to help him stand up to his wife.
At the last minute, Mrs Anderson lets him off the hook and he gets to stay home. Now he and Dennis get to do some baby sitting. The kid, Gerald, pulls a fast one and runs away as he traps Dennis in a closet.
Mr Anderson and Dennis catch up with him and Dennis tries to win the kid over with his Jimmy Durante impression. Also an ipression of Harry Lauder, an early entertainer of vaudeville and radio, by singing Roaming in the Gloaming.
Gerald isn’t going for it, and wants to be convinced by a more contemporary act, so Dennis and Mr Anderson do a number as the Andrews Sisters, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Impressive, at least to me it is.
Next, Dennis does his impression of Sophie Tucker as he sings, Miss your Big Fat Mama. With all the eforts, will Dennis finally convince the kid?
Whether he is, or whether he aint’ this is one show that definitely showcases some of the range of tallent of Dennis Day.
He closes out the show with, This Is The Day.
