Despite her best efforts in making the store profitable, Miss Hartford has made plenty of folks upset with her. Today in the store, Lum and Abner decide they can’t put it off any longer. Miss Hartford arrives and they confront her to break the news of letting her go.
A discussion of how people build a boat in a bottle almost derails the job at hand. The gents regroup while sarge tends to a pressing business matter, feeding the livestock she has brought in for payment.
At this point, the gents would rather be bankrupt, and face lazy days in the store again, but will their motivation last? Sarge enters again, but they just can’t confront her with the news.
