Jack Benny – Columbus Day. ep416, 411012

Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone and Don Wilson posing for a photo in 1938.

The audio is a little static in parts.

Don’s introduction has Jack Benny a little riled up. Mary Livingstone enters to share headlines and reviews of the show. Has the show become a too low class for Phil Harris? Dennis Day shares his own reviews but is interrupted before his song by a knock at the door. He sings, Time Was.

Jack gets teased over the way he walks and wearing a dress. Still, in New York, the cast tells about shows they’ve seen, and anticipate a return to the West Coast next week. In introducing the play, there’s a little confusion over words and an interruption with a knock at the door. It’s a letter for help from Rochester. Phil Harris plays some smooth dance music, I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.

The cast gets ready to travel back home, and Jack assigns the travel arrangements. Another letter from Rochester arrives with a more urgent request for money. Jack puts the call through, but will he come through with the cash?
