Jack Benny – Benny Of The Northwest Mounted. 360209

After broadcasting in California for over a year, the cast returns to New York. Jack plays bashful to perform for his East coast audience. As Mary and the cast make their entrances, jokes abound about the return to New York, and the cold weather. The recording skips a bit while Johnny Green plays, Love is a Dancing Thing.

Jack tries to promote a contest, but he is interupted. Hmm… I feel a running gag comeing on. Mary’s mom phones in for a chat and family updates. Kenny sings, Carry Me Back to the Lone Prairie.

In answer to fan mail, Jack puts on a play about Canada, and the Mounties. Being caught short without a script, Mary has to write one on the spot. Her typewriter sizzles as she cranks out the pages.

Johnny plays, My Lamented. Then the play begins. It’s a cold, blustery night in the frozen North, when a call arrives for the Mounted police. Can Mary keep up with the dialog? The butchered dialect, and script certainly sounds like it’s being made up on the spot. Rough, but a cute play. As Mary races to type more pages, Don squeaks in Jello commercials, and Jack tosses in his running gag about the contest.

Cooking tip: Don shares a Jello recipe as the show winds down. Plus, Jack recieves an award, and he thanks members of the cast.
