The phone rings in the Nelson home, and wit three strapping men, chivalry reigns. That’s why Harriet answers it and brings word of the PTA bowling challenge. Ozzie is sure the whole thing is a fake. Strolling to the bowling alley, Ozzie defends himself while his neighbor, Thornie, learns about the new approach, the hop skip, and jump.
As the ladies work out details in their business meeting, Ozzie demonstrates his new technique. In preparation, and taking some advice from neighbor girl, Emmy Lou, Ozzie takes his new fascination to his typical obsession level. Shopping the sporting goods store, he picks up a complete set of bowling gear. All he really needed was bowling shoes, but walks out with a golf shirt, tennis socks, new slacks, sun visor, portable seat, and… snow shoes?
Time for the tournament, but Ozzie can’t use his new bowling ball. The PTA ladies also refuse to let him use his new hop, skip, and jump approach. How will he ever win? Coming down to the last frame, and a tough split in the piiins, Ozzie manages to win. The hard way. He can enjoy his prize, once the swelling goes down.
