Continuing to try to put their robot to work in the store, Abner’s lesson on sweeping the floor is interrupted by grandpap. Abner figures Dr Drill owes them money for storing his invention, so they may as well get some work out of the robot,. Is Robert smart enough for a game of checkers? He is honest, and Abner knows he can trust the mechanical man not to steal from the cash register.
He tells grandpap that Lum still wants to disassemble Robert, and let his inventor take him away. Abner has been working with the robot every day, and is coming along pretty well in controlling him. The robot has joined him at home, as well as in the store, to do menial chores.
