Let’s Pretend – The Magic Tinder Box. 490709.

This begins with a bonus track. It’s actually a recording of Puss in Boots, as narrated by Hal Peary, the Great Gildersleeve, he brings this tale to life with a few sound affects, and underlying musical score to add to the drama. It’s the telling of a miller who gave his son a cat. The wise kitty then helps the miller’s son become close to the king, and even defeat an evil ogre.

Immediately following the story from Hal Peary comes our Pretenders who march their way to the story of the Magic Tinderbox. It’s a story of soldiers who have just been mustered out of the Army, and heading home. They are now in search of fortune, and finding brides. Instead, they meet an old crone who gives them a mission.

What challenges will they overcome? What hardships will they endure? The old witch’s magic tinderbox provides the help they need. Not to mention a magic dog who can grant wishes. A plan for revenge turns into a situation of danger, and even finding true love.

Note: The Hal Peary recording is actually from an album of 78RPM records. I actually have this story, and a few others. If this kind of recording is something listeners might like, I can podcast what I have, and I might be able to get more. Maybe.
