Gunsmoke – Letter Of The Law, Joseph Kearns 560715

Matt and Kitty meet on the street and discuss the likelihood of Matt settling down to run a saloon. Good try Kitty, not gonna happen. The levity is interrupted when Chester walks up with a job to serve papers for an eviction notice. Teak has built a nice enough place, has a deed to his land, but has just failed to register his claim properly. Will the former gunfighter return to wearing his guns again? Will he stand up for his hard work, and wife who is now in the family way?

Teak and his wife have Matt’s sympathy, so why is the judge so adamant in getting them off the land all of a sudden? Is there a motive behind the demand for swift action? Matt learns of a local rancher who has designs on the land. If there’s going to be trouble stirred up it’s going to come from Spraige. Even to force judge Rambo to call in another US Marshall from elsewhere in the state. All that results from the added arm of the law is an injured pregnant woman, and a baby that miscarried.

Spraige is a greedy man, and goes as far as to legally register the land in his own name. Will there be a gunfight brewing when Teak is confronted with the new development? Has Matt turned his back on his sympathies towards Teak? Get ready for an ending with a potentially explosive and deadly situation. Listen to see how justice is carried out in a more kinder and gentler manner for once.
