As the gents discuss the way that grandpap and BJ Webster are keeping the profits in the health resort to themselves, Cedric rushes in to tell about his beard. He sold a lot of bluing for a contest, and had the option to either win a real live fake beard, or a Shetland pony. The beard in the package looks impressive, but for now he goes home to show it to his mom.
The trouble is that Cedric took his package but left the nice, black, wavy beard in the store for Abner to try on. Will it do as a disguise for Abner to fool BJ, and let the gents invest in the health resort? Here comes grandpap, if it fools him, Abner knows its sure to work.
Even before the fake Charlie Johnson can lay out his story, grandpap knows who he is. Never mind the facts, Abner barrels dead ahead. Though he’s amused, will grandpap let the gentsinvest? What are the papers on his property for? The old gent is over 21, he knows what he’s doing? Hey, is that a stranger peeking in the window? Nope, just Abner’s bearded reflection.
