It’s that easygoing time of year that makes it hard to concentrate on chores of Spring cleaning. If it wasn’t for Margret overseeing, even her loyal husband would be content to nap the morning away. That living room rug won’t carry itself out to be beat. His excuses may have been planned out with his son, Bud, but this is a losing battle, and one time when mother knows best. Betty is forgetful as the teenage drama queen frets over dresses, and phone messages.
Kathy is excited to report on door to door swimming pool salesmen in the neighborhood. Though none appear, it sets the stage for a major misunderstanding, once the forgetful Betty delays in telling Jim of an important client.
Will those rugs ever get beat? Jim is even too tired to walk around the golf course with a friend. By the time the important client letter is found, the Andersons scramble to put the partly cleaned, and thoroughly messed up house in order, and Jim fears he just sent his man packing.
Mix ups explode, and Bud organizes a strategic search of the neighborhood with his friends. Jim gets into hot water with a cabbie and a cop. Since Kathy is the only one who saw Mr Miller, will she be any help in identifying him? Margret manages to save the day, but not after a comedy of errors complicates things.
