A good lead steer was invaluable in leading the herd on a cattle drive, and old Red was the most famous of them all. Trouble breaks out at the auction for the prized steer. Who will win the right to claim Red for their herd?
The disgruntled losing rancher causes the old longhorn to stampede, and Bill has his hands full in calming old Red down. Later, Tyler shares his hospitality with Vil and Jingles, and we learn why a lead steer is valuable on the trail. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be night riding rustlers on the prowl to steel the longhorn.
Something more serious than guarding old Red emerges when murder enters the scene. The crime scene gives Bill all the clues he needs. Gunplay on the trail means the risk of stampeding herds. As Bill and Jingles do their best to trap the killer, old Red proves his worth once again.
