Starting a new season, with a new sponsor, Phil and Alice discuss their contract with Mr Philips. A morality clause means Frankie Remley is not allowed. At home Phil agonizes over the decision but Willie has been starting rumors that the family is in dire straits. The girls have even been selling things at their hot dog stand. Phil sings, Dig for Your Dinner.
Frankie arrives, and it’s up to Phil to break the bad news. Frankie has been hard at work lining up sponsors for Phil to fall back on. Frankie has a sponsor who is willing to pay big bucks to get Phil and Alice. Will they be better off than going with Mr Philips? Grogan has a money making business, literally, and can afford to pay big. Back home, Alice sings, I Love the Guy.
Desperate to do right by Frankie, Phil wants to talk to his last sponsor choice. Meanwhile, Julius delivers groceries to Alice. There’s good and bad news. Julius is determined to sabotage the shady dealings of Frankie sponsor. The trouble is that Mr Phillips has reconsidered, but Julius mistakes him for the shady character. All Phil and Alice need to do is sign. The deal fails, but Frankie has Milligan brought in, and signs Boo Boo Faye to be his main attraction in his burlesque show.
