Will there be faculty changes at school? Connie Brooks has discussions with her land lady, Mrs Davis, then with Walter Denton as he drives her to school. As the car load of Connie, Walter, and Harriet departs, Mr Conklin shares his own rumor with his wife. Situations for mix ups later are all in place.
At school, Connie and Mr Boynton think the faculty shake up means their beloved principle is losing his job. Knowing what a proud man Mr Conklin is, Connie and Boynton conspire to do something for him. Stretch is working in the cafe, and the inclination to think Conklin is on the way out is continued.
A laundry to raise funds for the Conklin is started. Trying to make an impression with the school board boss, mix ups from the rumors are about to explode. Somebody will have some explaining to do.
