Texas Jack saw his partners gunned down by the Tarantula gang, and will give anything to see the last of them done away with. A bandit talks to a law man to provide the listener background about the nasty deeds of the Tarantula gang. Tonto has been lurking, and races to inform the Lone Ranger about what he knows, and the two friends explore at the cave hideout. What do hey hope to find there?
When the sheriff gets there, Lone Ranger makes a narrow get away. A mystery grows when the treasure chest that the Lone Ranger took from the cave is empty of all but a note. What’s the deal with the Tarantula gang? Things get spooky when a homestead couple are warned about a haunted house, and warned not to stay the night.
The show’s writers sure seem to be stingy with the normal adventure and action, but there’s definitely a mystery brewing. Where is the story going?
The note that the Lone Ranger found told that the missing, stolen cash can be found in the haunted house. However there’s still the mystery remaining about just who is the Tarantula gang, and what is up with the missing money. The settlers fears keep mounting as they stay in the house. Will the Lone Ranger get to the cabin before the Tarantulas? Will the settlers be rescued, and safe? It’s all about the fear of the unknown, and settling those irrational fears.
When the Lone Ranger swoops in, he is able to expose the secrets. And it involves… smuggling drugs? Did they have that problem in the 1870’s? Drugs weren’t illegal back then, maybe not always accepted, and even thought a cure to such things as demon rum. Certainly by 1942 drugs were illegal, and this story seems to fit with the attitude of the 1940’s more than the Lone Ranger’s times.
Wierd story, but we haven’t seen the last of the Tarantulas. A few are caught, but the leader is still out wreaking havok.
