Featuring Lionel Barrymore. This takes place in the days after Christmas. The town is feeling deflated as the bright decorations come down, leaving the place feeling like its lacking something.
Word reaches the mayor of a little girl who is having a particularly hard time. In dealing with her illness, her family put their tree right in her bed room, and she became attached to the ornate tree. Christmas trees don’t last forever though, and regardless of the season ending, their pine needles turn brown, and branches dry out.
Getting an idea on how to cheer the girl, and help the citizens put their dried out trees to good use, a letter is sent to the newspaper editorial desk. Written in just the right tone to get cooperation from the town, a new “old legend” is born. Will the girl get past her post part depression over the Christmas season?
