Brushing up on his golf game for the big tournament, Gildy practices a few shots in the house. A guest is coming and will be putting Gildersleeve out of his room, and into the sewing room for the night. Marjorie gets ready for the dance but why is Leroy taking her instead of her usual boyfriend? Bill Fares is the special musician who Marjorie hired for her dance, and it turns out is the same man who is displacing Gildy from his room.
The jive talking trumpeter is a hit with the kids, but Gildy would just like to hit him. Trying to get some rest before his golf tournament is out of the question. Bill keeps Leroy up to the wee hours of the morning, teaching him some jazz licks on the horn.
Gildy can’t get any rest either at the constant squeaking of the -porch swing, as the amorous musician tries to get close to Marjorie… but even less once the squeaking stops.
Is all hope lost for winning the tournament against the judge? Good news turns to bad. The judge is injured, so Bill volunteers to step in to compete. Will the new upstart be easy prey on Gildie’s home town turf? The competition is stiff, so don’t miss the action that comes down to the wire.
Note: Guests on the show are Mel Blanc as the golf announcer, and Frank Nelson as Bill Fares.
