Don Wilson rolls back the clock a few minutes, so we can see what happens just before a broadcast. Rochester wakes Jack up from his nap. When Mary visits Jack’s dressing room, she explains how she came to be wearing Jane Russel’s dress. Don Wilson flubs a line that Jack ad libs for a few extra laughs. Finally, Bob Crosby gets his band members ready to go on.
On stage, Jack tells about the featured play. A drama about the fearless, crime busting detective, Bullets Benny. First an interuption from the insurance selling, Mel Blanc.
After more interuptions by Bob and the band, parts are assigned, and Dennis is discovered to be missing. Who’s going to sing the song? Herman the insurance salesman? Bob dsings, Oh My Papa.
Jack walks to Dennis hous, enjoying the sights and people he meets on the street. Once at Dennis house, Jack catches jokes and insults from his mom and dad. Disputes about Dennis contract are pointed out.
Note: The kid on the street is 10 year old Harry Shearer. Also known these days for his work on the Simpsons. Dennis dad is played by Joeseph Kearn, he also played Jack’s vault guard, Ed. On the Mel Blanc show Joe Kearn was the voice of Mr Colbym, Mel’s potential father in law. Verna Felton is Dennis Day’s mom.
