A second audition to try to get the studio execs to put Lum and Abner back on the air. It would be several more months before they would make their appearance, and their 15 minute shows would hit the airwaves on a daily basis during the weekdays.
Today, our heros talk about running for their local public offices. Lum suggests that Abner needs an animal mascot, like the donkey and elephants of the national parties. When Lum uses the phrase, ‘vicea versa” Abner confuses it for a new kind of animal. Cedric enters for the distraction that Lum needs, and they talk about a new suit for the candidates. Listen in as Lum takes Abner’s measurements. A neat trick since suit salesman Cedric doesn’t have a tape measure. Squire Skimp is back, and to counter their arch rival, Lum puts Abner up for mayor.
In the show closing, announcer, John Crosby, hints of changes to the proposed show. Particularly introducing more characters.
