Down in Pine Ridge, a Mr Worthington has offered a million dollars for Squire’s silver mine, but when the offer was rejected, Pine Ridge citezens worry that Squire might be risking losing the deal, but want more stock.
Lum talks to Dick about folks mortgaging their properties to get as much cash as they can to get buy while the deal goes through. Dick is just as skeptical as ever, and is doing some investigating. He’s keeping things quiet until he can get more facts, but where Squire is concerned, Dick can’t believe it’s on the level. One thing he noticed is that the aledged buyer from Arizona had Oklahoma license plates on his car. Can he convince Lum to play it safe? There’s plenty that could go wrong, even if the silver mine is a good deal.
The conversation turns back to Abner’s high society life, and his antics as he’s burning up the nightlife. Abner has been showing off, and running circles around the rest of the town.
Just then, Abner rushes up in his car, then enters to get on the phone, then talks with Dick, Lum, and Grandpap about his latest party that is lined up.
