In Pine Ridge there has been one high class social party after another. Today grandpap and Cedric talks with Abner about how swell Lum looked at the latest party. Abner seems to be the only one not going in for those late night society parties. Lum stops in at the Jottem Down store. The conversation turns to taking singing lessons.

Lum and Abner let loose with the old classic tune, They Cut Down the Old Pine Tree. With the help of grandpap and Cedric they do a few rounds of it. Nifty trick since all four voices are done by the same two actors (Chester Lauck and Norris Goff ).

Afterwards Abner gets confused over what a coming out party is. Squire stops in to talk about his stock, and a country club, complete with a golf course. Of course it will be exclusive, and limited to only Pine Ridge residents who own a certain amount of stock.

Horlicks drama: In a drugstore, a druggist tries to push the lesser brand of malted milk product, but his customer isn’t going for that imitation. Only the original will do.
