Down in Pine Ridge, it’s one trouble after another with Lum and Abner’s legal problem with Squire. Today Lum practices up on his law words. Dick returns from the county seat, and he gets filled in on details to catch him up on Abner’s mistakes with signing the contract, and breaking into Squires house.
Lum is forgiving over it all. When Abner enters, Lum tells him that their best legal advice that he has recieved is to settle out of court. Will his pride let him do such a thing? Lum has to come clean over his own mistake when he mistook their rival lawyer for their own. The incident whee he spilled the beans and all their confidential matters behind the case.
A little too late, Lum bemoans his lack of liability insurance on the movie house. He plans to go out and buy up all he can. I think he will find that if he does, he’ll be facing high premiums. At least he’ll be covered if something happens in the future.
Back to the story. The three friends debate how to approach the case. There’s still the possibility of letting Squire have a third interest in the movie theater. Again, a lot of pride needs to be swallowed. Lum makes the phone call, but is it going to be too little, too late? The old fellows need some big breaks in evidence, and fast.
Horlicks: Just a glass of Horlicks at lunch is all you need. It’ll put you on the fast track to losing weight. It’s the healthy way.
