Down in Pine Ridge, at Lizabeth’s urging, Abner finally broke down and bought a few shares in the Arizona Silver Mine that Lum has been pushing. Today, Lum comes into the Jottem Down store to talk to Abner about the latest happenings in his new business venture. The whole get rich quick idea has swept Pine Ridge, and dreams of high society is the thing that everybody is talking about.
Lum talks to the skeptical Abner about the finer points of ettiquet in high society, and proper manners. Will Abner fit into the tea party crowd? Lum is excited as he tells Abner about the recent party, and Abner tells how disappointed Lizabeth was to miss it. The exclusive club is only for millionaires. Well, and people who own enough silver mine stock, of course.
Lum tells how Squire came to be in the Silver mine business. Squire owns the mine, and Lum gets 10% plus the benefits of any stock that he has purchased. Lum tries to assure Abner that his stock will make him part of the high society crowd in the course of time. Abner is reluctant, but especially when Lizabeth phones him, he finds himself being dragged into the high society life.
Horlick letter: A woman reads a letter to tell of her success with feeding Horlicks to her baby. Carlton Bricker affirms the endorsement of the medical profession that Horlicks is recommended for babies.
