Lum and Abner – Ladies Uplift League Will Boycott The Show. 350614. Horlicks: Have you ever thought of cold Horlicks as a rfreshing drink for Summer? Get it in natural or chocolate flavar, and insist on only the original.
In Pine Ridge, Lum and Abner’s latest adventure has been to convert the old cotton warehouse into a movie theater. Today they continue by getting ready for their grand opening. They tell the crowd that the planned, free matinee for kids, has to be postponed because of complaints by the Ladies Uplift League.
The ladies have taken offense at the cowboy picture they had all set to show, and its violence. With the crowd dispersed, Lum talks with Abner about why the League came to him to make their complaint. Their complaint letter is signed by all the ladies, even Abner’s own wife, Lizabeth.
Lum tells Abner his idea to gain the support of the Ladies League for future movies they may show. As they talk, they begin to see Squires hand in their problems. Can they get revenge on him in some way? Can they return the favor and sabotage Squires grand opening?
Dick arrives to confirm that Squire was behind the Ladies League’s objections. Dick also reports that they won’t need to get revenge, since the film Squire ordered didn’t come in from the county seat.
Horlicks letter: a testimonial about how Horlicks helped a man to get right to sleep, and get a good night’s rest.
