Flashback to Jack’s house where Don is trying to renegotiate his contract. When a stalemate is reached, Jack sends Don to a room to think it over, and locks him in. Jack tries to reason with Don, but how long will Don last until the hunger wears him down.
Meanwhile, Mary arrives to talk to Rochester about Don’s situation, and talks with Polly. When Jack takes a break from Don, Mary tells him about her new evening gown. Jack returns to check on Don, and the signs of food deprivation begin to show. Jack rubs it in by talking about food. How mean.
The Sportsmen are outside skating on Jack’s pool so he goes out to talk to them. The Sportsmen sing an ice skating style song for the sponsor. There’s a minor mishap when the sun comes out and the tenor crashes through the iceWow, the writers have a dark streak tonight.
. Back in the house, Dennis has arrived to tell about the latest with his parents, and a trip they took to play in the deep snow. Dennis joins Jack in talking about Marys party that she’s planning. Dennis sings, Here I’ll Stay.
Mary and Jack get ready to go out, but what about Don? Jack leaves instructions for Rochester then heads out. Downtown, Jack and Mary visit a dentist office. After Jack answers some delicate questions with the recieving nurse, and she guesses his real age, he goes in to se Frank Nelson. Frank pokes fun with Jack about all sorts of dental jokes. They somehow manage to put a twist on things that bring in topics with the movies, radio, movie stars, and more. There’s even a flor show to distract the patient since there’s no anesthesia. Jack’s x-rays show some disturbing changes, and his exam begins to turn serious.
