Lum and Abner – Lum Orders Statue Of Himself. 350521. Horlicks: Sometimes you may get a bargain in buying a substitute product, but never with your favorite malted milk. Accept no substitutes. Carlton Bricker gives a quick reminder for listeners about the short supply of those Lum and abner photos.
Previously, Squire reported that there was no market yet for the hogs that he took to Chicago. He may need to wait for a wile, and expenses may rack up.
Today, Lum reads a telegram to Abner that the hog sale went through, and Squire should be returning to Pine Ridge soon with the cash. Abner gets more skeptical about spending money on his statue after Lizabeth has talked to him.
Now Lum has to decide on a statue without Abner in it. They review some of the options from the monument catalog. Should he get a statue sitting down, or standing up? Should it be like Lincoln’s statue, or the Washington monument? How about one patterned after Grant, or the Thinker? Abner drops the idea of petitioning the town to see what Lum ought to do for his statue.
Abner gets on the phone to start getting up word with Mose Moose, and gets some of the sales pitch on the idea a little confused. Still, it’s the start of the petition. Though the exact statue is up in the air, Lum phones the statue company to get his inscription ready.
Carlton Bricker gives another quick plug for those Lum and abner photos, and how to send for one.
