The president recounts America’s involvement in past foreign wars to protect domestic freedom. From the wars in the first 25 years as a nation, for 99 years no foreign lands were a threat. He claims the first world war constituted a small threat, but the peace that came has led to the current unrest. The safety for the future of our democracy is now being threatened from countries that are at war.
It is immature and untrue that America will stand still when liberties are at stake. Modern warfare could bring dangers to the Homefront. It isn’t implausible to have troops land on our shores. The first phase will be from secret agents, and their dupes.
The president calls for responsibility, and accountability in defending the dignity of foreign nations. Our national power exists, due to our national defense. He calls for the full support of military to keep war away from this hemisphere
Enduring peace cannot come about at the cost of other people’s freedom. Goals in defense are being made, but more progress needs to be made. The greatest difficulty is in building new factories. New needs require new funding.
The call is to act as an arsenal for warring nations as well as for ourselves. In ability to pay is no reason to surrender. A loan is proposed to allow giving arms to those who need them, to be repaid later. Supplying arms buys time for our own defense. the president pledges to supply ships, tanks, planes, guns, and aid to democracies who resist dictatorship
Dictators won’t wait for an act of war. Our future depends on how fast we can come through. Defense takes priority of national need. Slackers or troublemakers should be shamed. Fighting men, and defense workers take priority,.
Equality in jobs, and standard of living are proposed with a call to have more people under old age pensions, medical care, and unemployment insurance. Funded from taxes. . Congress is to hold a higher standard, while the individual should place Patriotism over pocketbooks.
