in Pine Ridge Squire is planning to bring Lum and Abner to court over the accident that he had in their Planitarium movie theater. Today, Dick Huttleton first offers some advice to try and settle out of court, but admits that he suspects that Squire if faking his injuries. The three friends discuss how to handle Squire, and settle things bvetween themselves.

Lum hops on the party line to phones Squire’s house. Lum tries to reason with him as Abner interjects some quiet comments on the side. After the phone call, Abner talks about the horse doctor he knows, and his medical style.

Squire pops in, and Abner begins to worry that he might lose his temper then say or do something he might regret. Lum wants to do the right thing, but will Squire settle with them? Only if they make him a third partner in the movie theater business. He holds their letter that they wrote to him over their heads as incriminating evidence.
