Mr. Manletter, a big city businessman is called with a notice to pay off on his loan, or be forced to be foreclosed on. He refuses to call Boston Blackie, but his secretary isn’t too proud to seek help from the well-known detective.

Though danger is likely to be involved, Boston Blackie is instructed to appear at 50 Hunter Street. All he finds there is a recorded message, and a thump on the head waiting for him.

When a rival detective is found murdered, Inspector Farraday has plenty of reason to pick up Blackie as the killer. Oh, that crazy Boston Blackie. He’s just full of puns and wisecracks as he gives Farraday the slip, and sets off to clear his frame up.

In questioning the banker, it should be plain that there’s an imposter involved. Can Blackie track down the truth before the cops pick him up again? Can he prove who used his gun to do the deed that he’s being blamed for?

Blackie is caught. Blackie escapes. Blackie has the whole mess figured out. In case listeners haven’t picked up on the clues that were laid out in the show, Blackie reveals it all before dropping the real killer in Farraday’s lap.
