Spike’s guest is the Sinatra of the Steinway, Jan August.

  1. Mike Wallace introduces Spike Jones and his City Slickers as they play, No, No Nora.
  2. Dorothy Shea, the blonde Park Avenue hillbilly talks to Spike about the Halloween holiday then talks about her ideal mountain man. She sings, Say that We’re Sweethearts Again.
  3. After Mike Wallace plugs the sponsor, Spike returns with, Easy No Hands. I think the song might also be titled, My Old Flame. The humorous vocalist does a hilarious rendition of Peter Lorie.
  4. As Dorothy and Spike talk, a trick or treater stops in. What do you know, it’s Jan August. He tells a little about how he got started in the singing and piano playing business. A short dramatic reenactment is done. Jan plays his hit, Miserlou.
  5. Dorothy sings a track from her upcoming album; It Was Just a Friendly Feeling on My Part.
  6. Then in a South American style, Jan August plays, Begin the Beguine. The music transitions into Dorothy singing another hit of Jan’s, Besa Me Mucho. Finally Spike Jones picks up on a tune. Presumably one of Jan August, but who else could do a song that includes barking dogs, chirping birds, whistles, bells, and other crazy sound affect? Gotta love good old Spike.
