Don Wilson introduces the eminent authority on aviation and flying, Jack Benny. Jack brags to the soldiers at Marshfield about his part in inventing the airplane. Mary arrives to tease Jack about his true boyhood job as a blacksmith helper. When Phil arrives, he tells why he always asks for applause before Phil and his band can play, the show is interrupted with the delivery of a bomb. Phil’s band plays, “Tonight we Love.”
Mary has a poem to read, but will she need to blackmail Jack to let her do it? Dennis arrives to talk about his tour of the airfield. Will Dennis and Phil end up being shot in the morning? Mary reads her poem about March Field and the troops assigned there. After a quick interruption and bomb delivery, Dennis sings, “We did it before we can do it again.”
Dennis and Jack talk about their troubles and being able to keep hold of their girlfriends. Jack invites one of the soldiers onto the stage. The sergeant claims to weigh 407 pounds and refers to Don Wilson as “skinny.” Sgt. sack will tell of his problems with being as large as he is. Might Don be feeling a little jealous? Isn’t Andy Devine also a larger man than Don? The mention of Andy Sparks a conversation of Fred Allen’s last episode. Rochester phones into report on some car problems. Besides the fender bender and blown tire, we learned that Jack owes Rochester money for lost bet.
