The Christmas season approaches, but the drama with Paul continues. Fannie tries to get her husband Henry out of the dumps. Will a discussion of what to buy for the family for the holiday generate some Christmas Spirit, or just take a winding way back to Paul? Jack enters with good news of a bonus. It’s the distraction that Henry seems to need.

Over at Hazels, we find her chatting with her daughter Margret. Christmas decorations are going up, and Hazel has her own family news to keep Henry distracted. Jack continues his quest for some cubed sugar, while the family drama over food keeps coming.

Henry visits Claudia, just after Jacks failed attempt on his sugar cube adventure. Claudia tries to share a letter from her husband Nick, but first Henry needs to blow off some steam about Paul.

Outside, Paul and Christine drive away to the docks for a private moment. They share childhood memories of their very different lives back then, and marvel at the circumstance that brought them together now. How serious is this romance getting? As wonderful as his time with Christine is, Paul still has to come home to have his dad bothering his middle-aged son about his dating preferences. Cliff gives Paul a sympathetic ear as Paul tries to get to how to solve the problem with his parents and Christine.
