In the Jot Em Down store, Lum tells Abner why he is wore to a frazzle. He spent several hours with the new school teacher last night. What he thought would be a date with a sweet young school mistress turned out to be an educational meeting with an old school master.
Has Lum obligated himself for another dinner on the town with the teacher to welcome him? Lum is so embarrassed over his mess, that he’s about ready to resign from the school board. He can’t stand another day of having to listen to Prof. Sloanes ideas on education.
All the while Abner laughs at his friend, and shields him from phone calls from the new teacher. The fun stops when Lum wants to recruit Abner to go along to dinner with him.
