he Yuletide season is once again upon us, and Don brings out the star to put upon the Christmas tree. Jack soon turns the conversation topic of his Christmas party next week. Mary is doubtful of the star-studded guest list that he plans on inviting. Phil Harris drags himself and from the pool hall to remark on the stars who will be at Jack’s party.

After Phil Harris plays a tune, Jack tries to feed Don a nutty line to transition into his Jell-O commercial. Mary and Dennis enter and comment on Jack’s performance and a love scene at the movie studio. Before Dennis can sing, Mary gets a telegram. It’s a letter from her mom who brings Christmas news from the family. Dennis day sings, “the first Noel.”

Arriving at home, Jack is not in a good mood. In part because of losing three dollars on a bet, and in part because Rochester took his time opening the door for him. He is greeted by Mary and his crazy border, Mr. Billingsley. Just what is the strange man doing with that hatchet? Mary begins trimming the tree while Jack goes outside to pick oranges off of his trees. He meets a new neighbor girl, Carolyn Lee. The child star is suspicious over what Jack tells her about Santa Claus, and why he’s picking the oranges off of Mr. Coleman’s trees.
