a new kind of show featuring young love. At Midwest University we meet some of the students. Jim seeks advice from Mitch, his journalism professor. Should he make his move and get married to Jan? What would their family and friends say? When Jim talks to Jan about marriage, she waxes eloquent and lets her romantic side run away with her.

The young couple make a decision to visit Centerville, and the justice of the peace. The young couple are surprised by the use and inexperience of the justice as they all muddle through the ceremony. As reality sinks in, Jim and Jan wonder what they’ll do without a job or a place to live. Not to mention the fury they may face from their families.

After a few hurdles and snags are overcome, the marriage license is witnessed, signed in the ceremony complete. The young lovers can now enjoy their first day together.

Secrecy becomes the name of the game when they worry about being expelled from their dorms, or even from the school if people should find out that they’re married now. Jim soon deals with the challenge of keeping his secret when his dad calls him. It doesn’t help that a campus committee has begun to discourage marriage among students.
