Harry Bartel takes us to meet with Sandy, who tells us about driving on a foggy night. His wife, Mary thinks the mood is right for romance and adventure. Sandy would rather be comfortably home in bed. They hear a scream. Sandy stops. Mary runs off into the dark to see what happened. Being more levelheaded, Sandy finds a house with a phone to report the incident to the police. Acting on the slim clue, Gregory phones his friend Harry James to find a sweet clarinet player who may be in the area. Bill Cooper turns out to be more of a judo instructor than a professional clarinetist. The trail of clues leads to an empty house where a scream is heard. Gregory and Sandy find Mary, but they also find a corpse.

Mary tells Sandy how she found the empty house, and was hit on the back of the head. The police don’t believe her story, and suspect her of the murder. Clues convince Gregory that black magic could be involved. Did Mary Walk in on some kind of ceremony? Using a beeswax candle, and other artifacts Gregory plans to smoke out a murderer. Putting the pressure on, Gregory soon has the murderer. In epilogue, they visit Mary in her hospital room and explained it all to her.
