Cedric is mad, and tells Abner how he hates and despises that, Gomer Bates. He can’t even keep his mind on his pinball game. Has he been taken advantage of one too many times over the affections of Clara Belle? Abner thinks sending her a nice gift and greeting card could sway her towards Cedric.
Instead, maybe a phone call to Mildred Barton will do the trick. The problem is that Cedric is even more awkward on the phone when it comes to carrying on a conversation. Somehow, he ends up asking her dad out on a date to go fishing.
Trying to correct the matter, Cedric only adds to the ranks of his fishing trip. When even Gomer wants to go fishing, that means Clara Belle will be available for the dance… right? Well, maybe not.
