Peg wants to go out to a formal restaurant. As the argument comes to a boil, a telephone call from Sidney Monahan comes in. He’s an old friend of Pegs, and Riley is instantly jealous. Sidney is to visit for a week. The whole family is soon fawning over the charming guest, all except for Riley.

Waldo helps Riley come up with a plan to get rid of the houseguest. Riley turns up the romance, but Peg doesn’t notice. In fact, Riley finds some circumstantial evidence and gets the wrong idea of the relationship between Peg and Sidney. In a final scene, all the truth comes out, and things are made right between Peg and Riley.
