While in the Blue Note, Casey gets a hot tip about a wedding of a well-placed man about town. He takes Ann to crash the wedding party, and get a scoop on a social story. what a nice change from the murder stories he usually covers. Don’t jump to any conclusions. Casey and Ann find a fresh body in the banquet room. Then a string of characters drops by for Casey to interrogate as he waits for Ann to return with the cops.
Larkin is a man who came by to collect on a gambling debt, but did he have reason to commit murder? Might there be jealousy with the intended bride over another woman? It’s about time to hit the Blue Note again, and discuss the case with Ethelbert. Casey discovers that if he can find some missing pearls, he can find the killer. It’s a tricky mystery, but all the clues are there to figure it out.
