As the group arrive for choir practice, ben is all excited over his talking pigeon. The group starts practice with a song for the Farm Bureau picnic. Eli and Ben talk business, and how the pigeon will make them a million dollars. The ladies imagine what kind of act the bird will do.
After another song, it becomes clear that the bird hasn’t spoken yet. Patience has written a poem. Another song. A business contract is written up with the help of Alice. After more music, and growing concern, the pigeon speaks. Though Ben is happy over it, the rest are disappointed.
The moral of the show is an early thought on relative truths and relative realities. Not that absolute truth doesn’t exist, but often there are two choices that are neither right or wrong, but a matter a personal preference.
In short, if a person wants to believe a thing, even if it is a fantasy, let him have their way. You don’t have to agree, or go along, but humor the other person.
